This year we have seen the Surgeon General issue an advisory about the impacts of social media on the mental health of kids and teens. Gov. Mike Dewine signed House Bill 250 which requires every school district in Ohio to establish policies surrounding cell phone use during school hours.

Schools have until July of next year to adopt those policies, but as we head into this school year, parents across the country are trying to delay the use of smart phones by coming together.

What You Need To Know

  • "Wait Until 8th" is a parent-lead initiative to delay the use of smartphones until after 8th grade

  • The pledge is anonymous until 10 families at your child's school take it

  • More than 60,000 families across the country have pledged to"Wait until 8th"

"Wait until 8th" is a parent-founded and parent-lead initiative that allows parents to present a united front on the issue of smartphones.

The goal is that all families will wait until after 8th grade to give their kid's smartphones so that no child feels left out.
