CLEVELAND — The world’s largest annual gathering of twins is back in northeast Ohio this weekend.

What You Need To Know

  • Twins Days takes place in Twinsburg, Ohio annually on the first full weekend in August
  • The festival was named the world’s largest gathering of twins and multiples

  • You do not have to be a twin to attend

The Twins Days Festival brings together thousands of twins and multiples to celebrate in Twinsburg, Ohio.

This is the 49th year for this unique event. The first took place in 1976.

Twins Days Executive Director Andy Miller was in attendance with his own twin when they were just 11 years old. Miller said the event has grown significantly since then.

“We have twins that have been coming for 15, 20, 30, 40 years and they look at it as a family reunion,” Miller said. “Because they get to visit with the twins they made friends with over the years.”

Many twins who attend dress up in matching outfits and participate in events, which Miller said really allows twins to embrace who they are.

“A lot of our first timers, they get, ‘wow that is the first place that we have gone that we didn’t feel out of place being a twin,’” Miller explained. “Some of them don’t embrace the ‘twinship’ outside of Twins Days, but I think once they come and they are exposed to it, they sort of get it.”

Twins and multiples are encouraged to register for the festival, which allows them to participate in events like the "Double Take Parade," and a 5k race on Sunday. Miller said, although the festival is centered around twins, you don’t have to have a twin to attend Twins Days.

“The parade is definitely a must see, if you are just interested in twins or just want to have a good time and get some fair food and we have entertainment throughout the weekend, we do have bingo on Sunday afternoon, and that’s open to everybody as well,” Miller explained. “So there is plenty to do whether you are a twin or a non-twin.”

Events kick off this Saturday at 9 a.m. with the parade and last all weekend long.
