This year, Bond Hill was chosen. It is about 10 miles north of downtown Cincinnati.

Beyond renovations at the community’s rec center, an urban community garden at the new Xavier Jesuit Academy is being built as well as a new turf Reds baseball field among many other projects. The makeover is in partnership with P&G, the Cincinnati Zoo, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and GE Aerospace.

The hope is to create beautiful spaces that can be used by the entire neighborhood for years to come.

Here's some photos from Wednesday:

“The key here is finding the projects that are going to reach every child and every family,” said Charley Frank, executive director of the Reds Community Fund. “By reaching two schools in a community center, a food pantry, and by beautifying some of the public spaces. We're already hearing from some of the neighbors just, you know, literally, amazed at how this park looks.”

Five-hundred volunteers will be working all day to complete the majority of the projects, with some continuing throughout the next week. That will include a community garden constructed by Cincinnati native and current Reds pitcher Brent Suter on Friday.

“I love the fact that we bring 500 volunteers into the community, over 400 from from Procter and Gamble itself,” said Matthew Ewing, brand director at P&G. “And like the fact that you go from a blank canvas and we flip it overnight to something that is usable and sustainable for the community, you really can't beat that.”
