She said her craft has helped her get through some of her most difficult days as she is navigating chemotherapy.

“I was diagnosed last August with late-stage ovarian cancer,” Faranda said. “It’s [creating jewelry] been so healing for me, and it’s just something that I will do untill the day God tells me it’s done.”

She’s been in business for around a decade, but for the past month, she said she has been focused on getting her inventory ready for the 47th annual Cain Park Arts Festival.

The festival which takes place in Cleveland Heights, will feature artists from around the country, and some local ones, like Faranda.

“This one is a little nerve racking because this is a great show, Cain Park has traditionally put on an amazing show every year,” the artist explained. “There is just wonderful artists there from all over the country, and a really great place to meet people, it is just a good time, its all around art you know, you name it, music, food, painting, jewelry.”

The designer said she’s looking forward to putting her jewelry on display to a large crowd and the opportunity to interact with customers.

“I’d like them to take away the memory that gives them or what it was that was so appealing about the piece,” she said.
