DAYTON, OHIO  — A 16 year-old was killed in an officer-involved shooting on Saturday night in Dayton, according to the Dayton Police Department.

According to a release from the Montgomery County Coroner, 16-year-old Brian Moody is dead. He was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital on Saturday, June 29.

Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, while working detail, officers said they encountered Moody in the street at 500 Negley Place. 

According to police, when officers approached Moody, he produced a firearm. Two officers then discharged their firearm, striking Moody. 

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is currently handling the investigation. The Dayton Police Professional Standards Bureau will host a separate investigation.
