COLUMBUS, Ohio — It’s pajamas with a purpose.

Hallegrace Heroes pajamas are not your average sleepwear; they’re adaptive pajamas for kids who are being treated for cancer — a dream of Halle Temple, who died from cancer in 2020.

It's also a dream her mother, Julie Hershberger, said has been life-giving ever since Halle’s death.

What You Need To Know

  • Hallegrace Heroes is a pajama line that makes adaptive sleepwear for pediatric cancer patients

  • This is in honor of Halle Temple, a young woman who lost her battle to cancer in 2020, but always dreamt of creating pajamas for kids with cancer

  • The pajamas are meant to make kids feel more comfortable when going through their treatment

“As we walk through the grief process of losing our daughter, it's not easy. And there's always going to be an empty space. The fact that she's not here, but knowing that we are filling a dream of hers and her desire, it's been amazing,” said Hershberger, the co-founder and executive director of Share Your Story Foundation.

The idea of adaptive pajamas stemmed from Temple hating to wear the hospital gowns when getting her cancer treatments and always wanting to wear her pajamas but couldn’t because of how they were made. The Hallegrace Heroes pajamas are adaptable to cancer treatments because of the strategically placed closures that provide convenient access to ports and PICC lines. They’re also made from a comfortable fabric. It’s an intentional design that Amanda Rango, Hallegrace Heroes pajama designer, said was a collaborative effort.

The sleepwear includes a tank top, a matching pajama set and a hoodie. All of the garments have Bible verses on the tags and inside the clothing as a way to keep kids and parents positive during their experience and are intentionally designed for kids to love. Rango said it’s everything Grace wanted.

“What did Halle love? Because this entire line is inspired by her, her life and her dream of this product,” said Rango.

The sleepwear has been almost two years in the making. But Hershberger said good things take time, especially something this special.

“We knew it was something that Halle had dreamed about doing and we wanted to fulfill that dream on her behalf since she wasn't here,” said Hershberger.

Hallegrace Heroes pajamas will officially launch and be available for purchase online on Aug. 18, which would have been Temple’s 29th birthday, which they hope will create a legacy that will live on forever in the most comfortable way.
