DUBLIN, Ohio — It’s the month of May, and many students are looking toward their graduation, but one graduating class shares a bond so special you’ll be seeing double, and even doing a triple take.

What You Need To Know

  • Five sets of twins and one set of triplets will graduate from St. Brigid of Kildare this year

  • The multiples make up 20% of their 8th grade class

  • The twins and triplets will graduate May 30th, 2024

The 8th grade class graduating this year from St. Brigid of Kildare in Dublin, Ohio, has a lot of twins, five sets of twins, one set of triplets to be exact. The multiples make up 20% of their entire class.

The milestone is extra special for the Seago triples: Lyla, J.D., and Mea.

“There are 13 of us, so that’s pretty cool,” Lyla said, “and the fun thing is we’re all pretty close. We’re all really good friends. So, it’s nice to have other people you relate to in your grade. It’s really cool.”

Lyla and her sister are identical.

Mrs. Karen Delucia is a teacher at the school, and she said the twins and triplets are easy to mix up… even the fraternal ones.

“Seating charts are very helpful,” Mrs. Delucia said. “The more you get to know them, though, the easier it becomes. You get to know their personality and their demeanor.”

Delucia would know, as she’s been in their shoes herself.

“I actually went through St. Brigid from third grade until eighth grade with my two other identical siblings. I’m an identical triplet, and we’re all girls.”

Nearly all sets will head into high school together, all except the Funkhouser twins.

“So, I’m going to Watterson next year,” Alexa Funkhouser said, “and Nathan (her twin) is going to Saint Charles. So, we’ll be in two different schools, which will be weird.”

As for everyone else, they’ll share at least another four years together… each with a unique bond.

“High school is like a big scary thing,” said twin Lily Steinbrunner, “So, being able to have a twin by your side is awesome.”

St. Brigid of Kildare School’s 8th grade class is graduating on May 30th.
