GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — Some northeast Ohioans gathered at Garfield Park Reservation Saturday afternoon for a bike ride for “Celebrate the Trails Day.” Bikers were also able to ride with some mayors from local municipalities, Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne, and more.

  • It was a 10-mile bike ride and people from different parts of the community came to ride, including mayors from a few municipalities 

Garfield Heights’ mayor, Matt Burke, was excited to be a part of the day.

“It’s something that was started years ago and we’re kicking it off with a new series called Bike with the Mayor. We started that last year and this is the kickoff to the Bike with the Mayor series,” Burke said.

The event was a collaboration between Bike Cleveland, Slow Roll Cleveland and others. Kevin Jones, a biker and the board president of Slow Roll Cleveland, expressed what the bike ride was all about.

“This is all about getting out here and looking at the trails that we have in our urban area and seeing how people can use them and leverage getting on their bikes and getting around town,” Jones said.

Mayor Burke explained that he loves getting the community together for them to see what Northeast Ohio has to offer.

“This gives us an opportunity to show off what we have here in our community,” Burke said.
