It supports families, like Remi Williams’.

Remi is 5-years-old and has Cerebral Palsy, which affects a person’s movement and posture.

“It affects her right leg,” Emily Williams, Remi’s mom, explained. “She has what is called spasticity in her right leg, primarily affecting the range of motion in her right ankle. So, it makes walking, jumping, and running a little harder for Remi.”

But Remi’s overcoming those challenges, and Emily said The Childhood League Center is a big reason why.

“When she first started coming to The Center, she was walking with a walker,” said Emily. “I would say within two months to three months of coming to the center and getting her physical therapy, she was walking without the walker.”

The Childhood League Center chief program officer Jennifer Haddow explained the center’s programming helps kids like Remi.

“We have a lot of different programs,” she said. “One of those is our early intervention program. We deliver services into their natural environment, most often the home. We also have a social worker as part of that program. Another one of our big programs is our preschool program. Each classroom is led by a certified teacher, their teacher assistants, and then their team also includes a specialist, the occupational therapist, the physical therapist and a speech therapist.”

For families like Remi’s, the center’s support is life-changing.

“We’re so appreciative,” Emily said. “Our whole family is so appreciative to have found this place and been able to send Remy here for her therapies and her schooling. We’re so appreciative of everything that they’ve done for us.”
