CINCINNATI — Nestled in the heart of Cincinnati’s Oakley neighborhood, Madtree Brewing Company has garnered attention for its exceptional brews and its commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
At the forefront of this ethos is Madtree's B-Corp status, a certification that sets it apart as a business that balances purpose and profit, considering its impact on workers, customers, suppliers, the community and the environment.
Amidst hundreds of breweries in Ohio, Madtree stands alone in holding this difficult-to-obtain certification. Of course, if the beer didn’t taste good to customers, the rest wouldn’t matter. And that’s where head brewer Ryan Blevins comes in.
In a right-place, right-time scenario, Blevins, who had decided to leave his job as an auto mechanic to pursue beer-making, met the Madtree founders at one of the company’s first tapping back in 2013. Blevins offered to wash out kegs so he could learn the art of beer making.
Ten years later he’s Madtree’s Head Brewer.
Blevins said he hopes not only to satisfy the thirst of beer enthusiasts but also to lead the charge in creating a more sustainable and socially responsible brewing industry, one pint at a time.
