CLEVELAND — Olmsted Falls senior Danielle Cameron broke the school record for career made three-point field goals in a season last year, as her team made it to the state championship game.
The Bulldogs came up short, but this year they’re headed to their second straight state semifinal with another chance at a championship.
“No one thought we’d get to this far in the tournament," Cameron said. "And so just to prove to ourselves and everyone that doubted us that we got here just feels really good”.
The senior said she wants to end her career on a high note, so she’s more motivated than ever.
“We look at the banners on the ceiling, and we really want the one that says champions," she said.
Head Coach Jordan Eaton said it’s a rare opportunity to get two straight shots at states.
"These final four appearances are really rare," Eaton said. "That was the first time our school ever did it last year. So for us to get another chance so soon is really a testament to how hard our kids work, and I think they’re ready to cash in on the opportunity.”
The climb and the competition only get steeper from here, so these last days of practice are vital.
“For everyone in the entire state, it’s the state championship," Cameron said. "And on The Division I level, it’s one of the harder things to do. So we’re just working really hard every day to get to that goal.”
