Saturday was the city’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade!
Bagpipers, Irish dancers and, of course, giant floats are about to hit the streets.
Noah’s Ark was among the floats featured in the parade.
The float was put together by The Ark Church of Dublin and was 13 feet long and five feet wide.
Pastor of the church, Eric Tober, had a hand in it.
“It represents who we are, the Ark Church of Dublin, and it represents God’s safety in a storm,” Tober said. “The idea is that the boat is a safe place, even though it’s in a storm. We want to be a safe place where people can go through their storms of life, their struggles.”
While it’s the ark’s first year in the parade, Tober said it won’t be its last, and he’s excited for everyone to see the finished float.
“We hope it puts a big smile on people’s faces and that they will laugh and have joy with us in it and see what we see is that there’s hope,” Tober said.
The Thrive Church also participated in the parade this year. Its float is massive. The main part of it is a 10-foot-tall Lucky Charms cereal box. It also had a pot of gold and a leprechaun balloon attached to it.
Pastor of Thrive Church, Dave Liuzzo, said it took a couple of days to design and build.
“The theme we went with is the Lucky Charms cereal box, because we thought, what better way to talk about Jesus than to let people know you don’t you don’t need luck when you have Jesus. And so, it’s a kind of a play on words,” he said.
This is The Thrive Church’s second year to use the float in the parade.
