OHIO — With spring around the corner, you could start seeing bugs and critters creep back in.
Spring is known to bring all of nature’s helpers: ants, flies, termites and ladybugs. Experts said that the more we see temperatures fluctuate, the more bugs we might see. During colder months, insects either find a place to hibernate or seek shelter by either burying themselves underground or invading our homes.
Entomologists said March is usually the start of pest season. People might see things like carpenter ants, bedbugs and termites at the beginning of spring. However, it isn’t until around April or May that you want to call the exterminator.
Spring can bring more consistent warm temperatures, which will prevent your pest treatments from freezing. As temperatures continue to level out, there could still be ants and flies spotted, but their mating season is not until late spring or early summer. Experts say the best thing you can do is to be extra cautious about leaving crumbs and food out and to get an early start on spring cleaning.
