CINCINNATI — Gaining access to needed medication can be a hassle depending on where you live. But one Black-owned pharmacy is looking to change all that.
Altev Community Pharmacy just recently opened in Cincinnati’s Avondale neighborhood. It’s a predominantly Black, low-income neighborhood with few pharmacy options in the area.
Since opening the pharmacy in December, owner Emmanuel Ayanjoke has made it his mission to connect more with residents and make sure all of their pharmaceutical needs are met.
“Often times, you know, people want to see people that they can relate to,” said Ayanjoke. “And by so doing that actually able to open up and talk about their health issues and the way that they usually want.”
Altev is the only Black-owned pharmacy in the greater Cincinnati area.
