Snowfall Friday morning through midday will be light to moderate in intensity, with brief heavier bands possible. Travel will be very tricky for our Friday around Ohio.

What You Need To Know

  • Snowfall rates late early Friday could get up to a half-inch per hour

  • Lake-effect snow will team up with storm system snow

  • The highest snowfall totals look to be in the lakeshore counties from Lorain to Ashtabula

  • Arctic air will drop wind chills to below zero by Saturday morning

Numerous counties around the state have declared snow emergencies. Snow will become scattered and less intense as the day goes on, but lake-effect snow will continue to add to snow amounts in the primary and secondary snowbelts.

This will be a very light, fluffy snow that will make it easier to shovel and clear from the roads, but we are still expecting travel issues due to the widespread nature of this winter storm.

All of Ohio's 88 counties are under some type of winter alert.

Winter Storm Warnings are up for much of northeast Ohio and also in Morgan and Washington Counties in southeast Ohio.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect through the rest of the state.

Snow amounts will be around 1 to 3 inches in southwest Ohio. Totals will climb up to 2 to 4 inches for Toledo, Columbus, and Athens.

In Cleveland, 6 to 8 inches of snow is possible. North-central and inland northeast counties may see 4 to 8 inches of snow, but the highest totals will be in the Snowbelt with up to 10 inches possible by Saturday morning.

While the snow will be very inconvenient for travel, we also want to focus on the cold for ourselves and our pets.

Wind chills will be in the single digits for tonight. Below-zero wind chills are possible both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

This means we can’t look for help from temperatures to melt any snow or ice.

We will see above-freezing temperatures on Monday.
