The standard deduction for married couples filing jointly has increased $1,500, and it’s up about $750 for single taxpayers and married individuals filing separately. Tax professionals said it’s an effort to help with inflation.

“It’s one of the bigger jumps that we’ve seen throughout the past years,” said Chelesa English, Freedom Elite Tax Services CEO. “So that’s something to look forward to because that will also increase your refund and also lower your tax liability.”

The IRS is expected to start accepting tax returns later this month, but tax professionals say you don’t have to rush. Make sure you have all the documents you need to file.
