DALTON, Ohio — The Dalton Bulldogs have made it to their first state championship game. One football volunteer, Blake Nussbaum, has helped the team for years and will have his truck and trailer loaded with the team’s gear to head down to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

  • Blake Nussbaum has been volunteering for the team for years

  • He drives the team's trailer to away games and works the chains on the field at home games

  • He is proud of the team for making it this far

“I’ll drop the truck off and the trailer is loaded and my wife and I scoot out like 15 minutes before the buses and we get to the destination and have everything lined up for the team and we’re ready to go,” he said.

He has been donating his time, truck and fuel to haul the team’s trailers to away games for many years.

“I’m just very honored to be able to contribute to the booster club so they don’t have to spend money for fuel to get their equipment there,” he said.

Other than driving the trailer, Nussbaum also has been working the chains on the field at home games with a group of other people.

“I’ve run the chain gang for 25 plus years on the football field and it’s been very enjoyable,” he said.

Nussbaum’s grandson, Will, is a senior at Dalton and is a punter for the team. Nussbaum said he’s a proud grandpa and said this year’s team has worked hard to get where they are.
