CLEVELAND — It's almost time to "fall back."

What You Need To Know

  • Daylight Saving Time ends Nov. 5

  • Some medical experts believe permanent Standard Time is better for our health

  • Remember to change your clocks Sunday night before bedtime

Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, Nov. 5, at 2 a.m.

In addition to picking up an extra hour of sleep, there may be benefits to your overall health.

Dr. Sally Ibrahim is a sleep medicine specialist at University Hospitals, based in Cleveland.

"Permanent standard time is natural," said Ibrahim.

In an interview with Spectrum News 1, she referenced sleep studies, stating, "Daylight savings time is actually profoundly bad for health, mood, education and safety."

Ibrahim is a proponent of permanent Standard Time, and highlighted the following benefits:

  • Maintains the same wake time and bedtime year-round
  • It's better for falling asleep because it gets darker earlier
  • It's better for waking up because there's more light earlier in the day
