CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Circleville Pumpkin Show is underway.  Among the vendors there, Lindsey’s Bakery is home to the giant pumpkin pie and is famous for its pumpkin donuts.

There are thousands of pumpkins on display at the Circleville Pumpkin Show. Visitors can also try different pumpkin spiced food like pumpkin burgers, pies and donuts. 

Lindsey's Bakery is home to the giant pumpkin pie. You’ll find it in their display window and it weighs around 400 lbs.

“Well, it’s 75 pounds of pie dough, uh, there's probably about 300 pounds of filling,” said Burt Miller, who co-owns the bakery with his brother. “There's probably roughly over 100, 10-inch pies worth filling in there. That's pretty much it.”

Customers can take home their own 10-inch pie. The bakery sells around 23,000 of them during the show. 

Lindsey’s is also famous for its pumpkin donuts. They sell around 100,000 donuts during the four-day show. The bakery keeps hundreds of already-prepared boxes to help serve customers faster.

“We come here early so we get front row parking so we don't have far to walk,” said Peggy Bowers, who has been attending the pumpkin show for decades. “Lindsey’s is our first stop so we don't have to have a lineup of traffic down the road.”

Miller said that preparation for the pumpkin show starts well before the fall.

“We usually start around July, August, to start thinking about it,” said Miller. “Then around September, that's when it finally hits that we only have a few weeks here and our sales representative for ingredients, he’s hitting us up and that’s when things start getting real expensive real quick.” 

The show is open from Oct. 18-21 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. It’s free for everyone and visitors can watch the parade, patronize local businesses and try an array of pumpkin flavored food.
