WEST CHESTER, Ohio — Independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. campaigned in Southwest Ohio just days after publicly announcing his leave from the Democratic party.

He spent Tuesday afternoon addressing issues he says are impacting the nation and offering his solution to bringing the country back together.

Crowds cheered as Robert Kennedy Jr. made his way to the podium at his campaign rally in West Chester.

Politics is nothing new to Kennedy. He is a lawyer and nephew of former president John F. Kennedy. It’s his experience that he said has helped prepare him for now. But it’s not just his connection to politics that he discussed. War, the increase of housing prices, and inflation were some of the other issues he brought up.

“A young couple trying to get a new home today will pay three or four or five times what they were paying two years ago and they couldn’t afford it then,” he said.

These are all issues that supporter Mary Auberger said are relevant and are current issues that Americans are facing.

“The man’s foremost quality is that he knows what’s going on and he’s truthful about it and I believe that he will keep us out of war,” said Auberger.

But Kennedy’s decision to run as an Independent has supporters of both President Biden and former President Trump concerned of how it could impact next month’s election.

Kennedy said he isn’t focused on that but rather tackling the issues that he hopes will bring the country together.

“My objective is over the next 13 months of this campaign and over the years of my presidency is to figure out the things that unite America,” he said.

Kennedy launched his new campaign in Philadelphia last week. His visit to Ohio is part of a three-day tour that includes stops in Tennessee and Kentucky.
