Eric Fingerhut, president and CEO of The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) is in Israel, arriving last week to attend an event as an honoree.  Fingerhut is from Ohio: He is a former U.S. Congressman, Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents, and Ohio state senator.

Fingerhut described what he experienced during the assault on Israel by a Palestinian militant group, Hamas, on Saturday. 

"It's beyond imagining," said Fingerhut, in an interview with Spectrum News 1. 

"It's really important that this isn't just about the Jewish community — that all peoples of faith, the business community, the political community, the governmental community of all kinds, come together. This is an attack on civilization," he added.
