What You Need To Know

  • This last weekend was the fourth annual Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic

  • Virginia Union beat Morehouse College 45-13

It was a weekend designed to honor football players, coaches and contributors from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU).

For Tia Herriott at Virginia Union, getting to be a part of it all was pretty special.

"To be here supporting my team, especially in the marching band, it just feels like there is a lot of love to go around," she said. "I'm here to support my school."

Herriott is a dancer for Virginia Union, and she said there was no better way to watch her team play.

"Today, I’m here with the Ambassadors of Sound Marching Band, the section leader for the, ... dance line, and we are here to play against Morehouse," she said. "There is a battle going on."

And while the weekend is centered around football, it’s been about so much more than that.

From a college fair to career fair and even a Habitat For Humanity event, it’s a testament to all of the changes that have taken place at the Pro Football Hall of Fame over the last few years.

Cody Borgert and his lacrosse teammates were at the game from Malone University. They were helping out at the game by pulling up the field goal nets.

"It’s amazing to see," Borgert said. "I love how the hall of fame is still revamping and having people up here playing games. It's really exciting to see these two teams play today. I know last year was a blast, and hopefully today is the same."
