Voting is underway for the Aug. 8 special election, which is when Ohioans will decide if the state should change the process for amending the state constitution.
The issue aims to change the voting requirement to approve constitutional amendments to 60%, whereas now, constitutional amendments only need 50.01% of the vote to be approved.
Issue 1 will be the only item on the special election ballot. Rep. Jim Hoops (R) and House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D) joined Spectrum News 1 to discuss the ramifications of Issue 1 and whether they support it.
