WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — It’s no secret that children with a parent or parents in the military face unique challenges.
Deployments, especially, can make everything even more difficult.
To honor their service and the important role that children play in the military community, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base hosted a “Little Heroes” recognition event.
Every child has a parent currently deployed or has just gotten home from a recent deployment.
The children took home teddy bears, a medallion, and a special certificate.
“It wasn’t easy for them, especially being their age and not understanding or grasping time as much. So it was hard to explain to them what was going to happen and how long I was going to be gone. So it’s good to recognize them,” said SMSgt Justin Musall.
This is the third time the base has hosted this event.
More than 50 families came out to honor their little heroes.
