This year the team took on the Pittsburgh Pirates at Great American Ballpark. The Reds fell to the Pirates 5-4.

However, the high-energy kick-off part of the day started like it has for more than 100 years… at the Findlay Market Opening Day Parade.

More than 100,000 people were expected to line the streets with 160 groups marching in the parade.

Outside of the ballpark, fans celebrated and got in the spirit before the game started.

“I love the Reds, I went to spring training, I even watched baseball in Puerto Rico. Opening day is the best day in Cincinnati,” said Reds fan Ian Smith.

“It’s a really great thing. It’s a special thing that our family has and I feel really fortunate that we have this tradition,” said fan Abbe Kuhn.

This year’s parade had two grand marshals.

Former pitchers Bronson Arroyo and Danny Graves helped lead the parade festivities.

Both are part of the Reds 2023 Hall of Fame Class.
