Meanwhile, on Saturday, the women took center stage in the only city across the country to be hosting both men’s and women’s tournament games this weekend.

The OSU women’s team beat James Madison this afternoon at the Schottenstein Center 80-66. Four Ohio State players scored in double figures, helping the Buckeyes advance to the second round for the second straight year.

During the matchup Saturday, the arena was packed with excitement and thousands of fans.

"Go Bucks,” said Dawn Patterson, rooting for her favorite team.

Patterson was excited about the chance to watch the Buckeyes compete in their hometown.

"This is great,” said Patterson. “This is our third time at the stadium this season. So, my daughter and I are very excited watching them play on their home turf.”

Patterson said basketball runs in their family.

"My daughter plays in high school, so we play a lot of basketball and we love it,” said Patterson.

So being there with her daughter Cassie, who looks up to the players, means a lot.

"I’ve seen them earlier,” said Cassie. “It’s just fun and exciting to watch them dominate because they’re a really good team. It’s really fun because they inspire me and make me want to get better.”

The Buckeyes will host North Carolina in the second round on Monday.
