CANTON, Ohio — The Browns have had a number of quarterbacks since Joe Thomas entered the NFL. They each had a strong protector on the left side of the line.

But what's different is that Joe Thomas is the latest member of the Browns to get inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Thomas got the knock from fellow Hall of Famer Walter Jones several weeks ago. He played 11 seasons for the Browns before hanging up his cleats in 2018. 

Thomas already has some displays at the Hall of Fame. He’s set an NFL record with 10,363 consecutive snaps. Thomas also made 10 straight pro bowls. 

He’s also the first of the modern era of the Browns to become an immortal. That’s a title he said he’s getting used to. 

“To be that first member to get elected to the Hall of Fame, it kind of sunk in and then I felt that responsibility that I was just talking about," Thomas said. "I know this is a big deal, but maybe it’s even a bigger deal than I was able to comprehend before that moment.”

For the induction, Annie, Thomas' wife, will be his Hall of Fame presenter. 

 



Bengals quarterback Ken Riley is also in this year’s class for the Hall of Fame. He passed away In 2020. His family was at the event to speak on his behalf.
