“It’s as important to rescue the horse as it is to give back to people,” said Heidi Sandrev. She serves as Angels Haven Horse Rescue’s President.

Sandrev said their goal is to, “rescue, rehabilitate and adopt horses out. We [Angels Haven Horse Rescue] get horses that are abused or neglected, very bad conditions, typically emaciated, sometimes they have no feet care and oftentimes have trust issues.”

The animals are typically surrendered or come from organizations such as the APL, Humane Society, or the SPCA. They also work with a third-party independent person who helps coordinate surrendered animals.

While horses are at Angels Haven Horse Rescue, volunteers help them reach their highest potential. They help with stall cleaning, grooming, feeding, exercising the animals, and more. All volunteers are welcome. No experience is required.

“Everybody, no matter what they’re doing, is playing a huge role in the success of the organization and the positivity for the horses and people,“ said Sandrev.

All donations to Angels Haven Horse Rescue go directly to the horses' upkeep. It covers veterinarian care, hay, grain, stall bedding, and farrier care.
