CANTON, Ohio — Canfield and South Range are connected by less than six miles of Ohio Route 46 in Mahoning County. Now the programs are connected by 2022 Ohio High School Athletic Association state football titles.

The Cardinals (14-1) beat Bloom-Carroll 35-14 to capture the Division III crown Friday afternoon, just hours after the Raiders of South Range were the Division V winners.
Quarterback Broc Lowry did a little bit of everything for Canfield, ending up as the team’s leader in yardage for passing (95), rushing (121) and receiving (69), while having a hand in all five scores. The Indiana commit also contributed six tackles on defense and a fumble recovery.
Coming into the game, Lowry had thrown and run for over 1,600 yards each, combining for 38 touchdowns. His season totals are now 1,818 yards rushing (26 touchdowns) and 1,756 passing (16 TDs).
The Cardinals' defense was also outstanding, limiting Bloom-Carroll to just 69 yards rushing, well under the Bulldogs average of 282 per contest. Time of possession favored Canfield 28:38 to 19:22.
Bloom-Carroll quarterback Ethan Thanthanavong completed 15 of 24 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown.
The Cardinals complete an impressive postseason run, defeating 2021 Division IV finalist Ursuline, two-time defending Division III champion Chardon, Region 9 top seed Holy Name and now 14-1 Bloom-Carroll.
The titles today for Canfield and South Range (first for each) adds to Mahoning County’s success with state football titles (16). The Cardinals and Raiders join Cardinal Mooney (8), Ursuline (4), Poland Seminary and West Branch.
