OHIO — Former President Donald Trump advisor Max Miller, R-Ohio, has secured his seat in Ohio’s 7th Congressional District, defeating Democratic opponent Matthew Diemer.
Miller had long been the front runner in this race, thanks to an endorsement by former President Donald Trump.
This congressional race has been centered around Trump’s push to replace U.S. Rep. Anthony Gonzalez, who was among the few Republican House members who voted for Trump’s impeachment. Gonzalez ended up retiring from politics, paving the way for Miller’s win.
Overall, the district leans Republican.
It was recently redrawn, now consisting of western and southern Cuyahoga County, Medina and Wayne counties, and northern Holmes County.
Diemer, a podcaster and entrepreneur, has no prior experience in politics but had been hoping to appeal to voters who are tired of any and all Trump influence. But voters decided otherwise, picking Miller to lead the way in this district.
