DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio — Ghost stories are told to keep us up at night. But are these just tales or fantasies... or is something else out there? Some believe. Others doubt.

The old Delaware County Jail is said to tell more than just a chilling story.

What You Need To Know

  • Paranormal investigators with the Tri-C Ghost Hunters record strange encounters inside the old Delaware County Jail

  • Investigators record new interactions with spirits and said at least three are said to still roam the cells and rooms

  • The spirits are believed to be relatives of former sheriffs who once lived there

  • Investigators claim one strange ghost encounter can turn any skeptic into a believer

Driving by the historic building, you might not sense anything unusual, but something else is said to be roaming inside these stone walls, and paranormal investigator Lisa Rorris and her Tri-C Ghost Hunters team haven't ruled out the claims of it being haunted.

"Just about every time we've been there, something's happened,” Rorris said.

Though at least one known death happened inside, Tri-C Ghost Hunters claim they've detected other spirits somehow connected to the building, and Rorris said she knows of at least three. She said a spirit by the name of Paula and an unnamed man as well as a child seem to frequent these rooms and cells.

They might be inmates who were locked up here a longtime ago, but Rorris believes they were the family of the sheriff who once occupied the other side of the building.

Rorris said they've heard voices and unusual noises many times, but during this investigation, Rorris began asking if the spirits remembered her.

That’s when Rorris’ device went off and her name popped up on a screen.

Then, in a different room, their motion sensor box lit up as they asked more questions.

These are just some of the unusual occurrences that have happened inside this old jail building. Experiences like this have even turned some skeptics into believers.

But no matter how many unexplained stories are told to this day, so many questions remain unanswered, even to the ghost hunters themselves.
