OHIO — For the past 26 years, Trevor Zahara has been an usher at the Ohio Stadium. He's seen stadium renovations, big game upsets and high profile players and coaches at the top of their game.
What’s remained constant is Zahara’s enthusiasm for helping guests find their way, and the chance to sprinkle in a little insider knowledge when given the chance.
“For close to 26 years, I’ve done close to 1,000 events in the stadium and it’s been a tremendous time,” said Zahara.
He’s one of a special group of “Red Coats” offering tours and field access to VIPs and alumni. But it’s the regulars who leave the biggest impression.
By first volunteering and now working in the same section, Zahara has seen families grow up, and he’s worked to make connections with Buckeye fans across generations, beginning with the littlest fans.
“I give out buckeyes to the youngsters that come in and we have a first game certificate… we write their name on it… and they hold on to that and it’s a tremendous, tremendous experience,” Zahara said.
He admitted that, while he’s there to serve the fans, Zahara also enjoys watching the games, and he takes his fandom with him wherever he goes.
“No matter where I go in the world,” he said. “If I do the ‘O-H,’ I get an ‘I-O.’”
