AVON LAKE, Ohio — Two student athletes from Avon Lake High School were recognized as the Week 9 Scholar Athletes of the Week for the northeast region.

Elizabeth Manly plays soccer and runs track for the Shoremen.

Manly was described as someone who “embodies what it means to be a student-athlete,” and “committed herself to be successful in the classroom, on the playing fields, and in the community.”

She carries a 4.58 grade-point average, while being a member of the Division 1 regional final qualifying soccer team in 2021 and also qualifying for the 2022 OHSAA Division 1 State Track Meet in the 100-meter hurdles and the 4X100-meter relay.

Besides her accomplishments on the field and track, Manly is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, peer leadership program and Pep Club.

She also volunteers time with the Healthy Kids Running Series along with youth speed and soccer clinics, while working a job at Inforno Pizza.

Jeremy Brausch is a football and lacrosse player for Avon Lake.

Brausch was described as someone who “embodies what it means to be a student-athlete,” and who has “committed himself to be successful in the classroom, on the playing fields, and in the community.”

He currently carries a 4.45 GPA and achieved Summa Cum Laude honors last school year.

On the field, honors include being a 2022 football captain, 2022 lacrosse captain, along with being voted All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Region in lacrosse.

Brausch also was voted 2022 Homecoming King.

Off the field, he also has earned recognition and spends his time as part of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Avon Lake High School Peer Leadership Club and the Key Club.
