DAYTON, Ohio — Ohio Army National Guard troops across the state are saying their goodbyes this week.

In a series of deployment ceremonies, 1,800 soldiers state-wide are being sent off in support of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve.
Military officials say the troops will head overseas for a year-long deployment.
About 400 of those soldiers, from the 2nd Squadron, 107th Cavalry Regiment, attended a ceremony in Dayton on Thursday.
For one soldier it was a history-making moment.
“I am the first female to deploy with Charlie Troop as an infantry platoon leader, which is really exciting," said 2nd Lt. Madeline Lindley. "I'm just ready to do the best by my guys and bring everyone home safe.”
Military officials say the soldiers will be supporting the military coalition that was created to defeat ISIS.
The 237th Support Battalion, based in Cleveland, will get a send-off in Stow on Saturday, Sept. 24.
The Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, based in Columbus, will have its deployment ceremony in Worthington on Sunday, Sept. 25.
