CINCINNATI — A caregiver service that credits the pandemic for boosting business is expanding.

Dick Weiland, 93, lives in a Cincinnati apartment surrounded by pictures of what his life as a political lobbyist once was.

It's a reminder of the past that he shows to everyone who walks into his life now.

What You Need To Know

  • ‘Rent-A-Daughter' provides caregiving services to seniors and started in Cleveland

  • ‘Rent-A-Daughter' provides 24-hour care

  • The service is now expanding to Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus and Florida

“When we do see these pictures, you realize these are all great human beings, but none of what they did could they have done on their own," said Weiland. "It’s the whole story of life."

Nadine Glatley and her team have been a part of his life to help him.

“We provide 24-hour care for families, whatever the need is, whether it's short-term, long-term companionship all the way to end of life,” said Glatley.

She runs ‘Rent-A-Daughter’. It's a business made up of a team of caregivers for seniors that all started in Cleveland.

"Just working with families and just having them say, ‘And you’re just like a daughter. You’re just like a daughter,’” Glatley said. “And I’m like, oh, my gosh, that’s the perfect name for my new business and my organization. 20 years later, here we are.”

She said they’re now expanding services across the state in places like Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati.

Glatley said that’s partly because of the pandemic.

“During COVID, we just expanded greatly. I mean, we just turned around so… the numbers were just off the charts," she said. "A lot of people wanted to stay in their home and a lot of people just wanted that extra companionship so that they wouldn't be alone."

It’s not just Ohio, Glatley said they’re also opening franchises in Florida to help seniors there as well.
