The 34th annual event of the Black Family Reunion is set to take place Aug. 18-21, but a kick-off event will precede the festivities in partnership with FC Cincinnati on Saturday, Aug. 13. This year's theme is Bold and Beautiful and will include a job fair, speaker series, parade, concert and more.

At one time, dozens of BFR celebrations took place across the country. Today, Cincinnati is the only major city that still holds the celebration.

“This event is so important because it is a place and time when we can all come together,” said BFR Executive Director Tracey Artis. “We are not divided by our schools. We’re not divided by our churches. This is a time when everyone can come out and celebrate the Black family."

Following the parade, Saturday’s main event will be split into pavilions with areas for youth and young adults, health, seniors, spirituality and a main stage.

Those wanting to join in the celebration can find more information on the Black Family Reunion website.
