This year, Lincoln Heights will be getting a facelift. Already, work has started to build a new gazebo at one of the local parks.

Solar panels have been installed at Lincoln Heights Elementary School. There's also been major changes at the community's Memorial Stadium. But there’s a lot of work to still be done.

The community makeover is a partnership not only with the Reds, but the Cincinnati Zoo, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Procter and Gamble and GE. On Aug. 4, the organizations will come together with more than 500 volunteers to beautify the community and work on several other projects in the area.

For the Reds Community Fund and leaders in the Lincoln Heights community, these makeover days make a big impact.

“A project like this really shows them that the community at large cares about their future, cares about their kids, cares about their families," Charley Frank, the executive director of the Reds Community Fund, said.

“We’re all in this together," Joyce Powdrill, the Lincoln Height village manager, said. "It is important for us to see Lincoln Heights thrive and we’re doing what we know best to do to help that move forward.”

The makeover day will also include a toy drive for the second year in a row.
