Chardon is a 45-minute drive east of Cleveland, and is a small, tight-knit community that often rallies behind its sports teams. In 2021, Chardon secured a state championship ring after being the first Division III team in Ohio high school football history to go 16-0.
Continuing the legacy this year, both the football team and baseball team captured state championship titles.
The community showed up to stand behind their team once again, packing the streets for a parade. The baseball team made its way from the high school, up and around the Chardon Square and to the gazebo, where they were recognized.
Chardon defeated Akron Archbishop Hoban 8-5 in the Division II state final at Canal Park in Akron.
This win marks the school's first baseball state championship win in its history.
