MASSILLON, Ohio – The Stark County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled a three-part civil education series related to Senate Bill 215.

All courses will be held at the Stark County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Training Center, 143 First St. SE.

The hands-on learning opportunity is designed to offer education related to the new constitutional carry law that goes into effect in Ohio on June 13, according to a news release. Senate Bill 215 allows people to carry a concealed hand gun without a license in Ohio.

CivilEd: Part I - Interactive Understanding of Ohio Constitutional Carry, will be held June 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. The course will engage attendees through an interactive presentation that enriches their understanding of the new law. Attendees will participate in a group-focused discussion that includes real-life scenarios they may encounter while practicing their constitutional carry right.

The first course will include:

  • Question- and answer-based presentations on the new law
  • Group discussion regarding real-life scenarios
  • Student-led findings presentations

All attendees will also be provided gun locks and other safety materials at the conclusion of the class.

Class attendees are reminded that they are not permitted to bring their personal firearms to any of the upcoming classes. Firearms will not be permitted on the premises.

Two additional classes will be offered as part of this series:

CivilEd: Part II - The Dos and Don’ts of Firearm Safe Handling & Storage on July 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.

CivilEd: Part III – Interactive Firearm Scenario Simulation on Aug. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m.
