CINCINNATI — A local mentor turned her pain and trauma into a way to help kids.

What You Need To Know

  • Kristi Williams is the mentor behind Kristi's Kollections, her at-home business in Cincinnati

  • She said she turned her pain and trauma to create positive messages on everyday items like shower curtains, pillows and journals

  • She hopes the items will be a subtle reminder to kids that they can get through hard times the way she did

It all started with one idea after Kristi Williams spent years going through trauma.

“I was molested at a young age," said Williams, “I was in a domestic violence relationship as a teenager, pregnant as a teenager. So much happened that I really didn’t have any direction,” she said.

She said the help of a mentor gave her the strength to keep going and she did.

Out of that pain came something beautiful.

“I would just look up to the sky and felt peace and calmness, so I started taking pictures,” said Williams.

She put those pictures on a journal and started sketching out more designs, subtle reminders, on shower curtains, pillows and turned it into a home business in Cincinnati called Kristi Kollections.

“I choose specific products for a purpose, not for just I wanna make a whole bunch of products and make some money. It’s purposeful,” said Williams.

The purpose is in the positive affirmations that she hopes will help young girls because now, she is the mentor.

“I just want people to know they’re not alone, and you can get through it,” said Williams.
