What You Need To Know
- Shaker Heights and KeyBank partnered for the Holiday Pop-up Shop
- 14 local artists including jewelry designers, painters and blown glassmakers were featured at the shop
- Shoppers were able to enjoy complimentary treats and beverages, a live band and family-friendly activities
"I blow my own glass and I have my own luxury blown glass candle line," said Orris, owner of Light Reign.
Orris started blowing glass years ago, but got back into it during the pandemic and turned her art into a business.
"I actually pour all of the wax myself. I have all my own custom scents, which are only essential oils. So it's a custom blend of soy and coconut wax that I put together that make these energy potions and essence," said Orris.
The holiday pop-up shop is the first one Orris has been a part of. A partnership between the Shaker Arts Council and KeyBank encourages everyone to support local artists and to shop local.
"It's an economic benefit for our community because they're creating wonderful things that people within the community can buy and share with others," said Mark Knierim, a sponsorship manager for KeyBank.
It's something Orris really appreciates as an artist and business owner.
She said the support of the community goes a long way.
"No joke. You're helping me pay what I need for food, for gas, for making more art, for paying bills. You know, like paying my heat. You are supporting a person," said Orris.
