COLUMBUS, Ohio — Tuesday is the annual worldwide day of giving, and an Ohio nonprofit said organizations across the country are in deep need of donations.

After all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping, there’s another way for people to use their money — this time to give back. 

“Giving Tuesday helps United Way of Central Ohio and all nonprofits in our country,” said President and CEO Lisa Courtice. 

She said donating to her organization on “Giving Tuesday” means supporting several causes.

“We focus on getting all kids ready for kindergarten and we focus on high school graduation and raising the high school graduation rate in Franklin County. And basic needs, priorities being food, shelter and clothing," she said.

Central Ohio-based Grange Insurance supported United Way’s fundraising effort, matching every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000.

“Grange has had a very strong partnership with United Way,” said Assistant Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion Community Relations Priscilla Hammonds.

She said the the partnership dates back close to six decades. 

“We’re so excited,” said Hammonds. “That $10,000 we gave will be matched up to 100% and those dollars are going to go to very worthy causes.”

Courtice said donations don’t have to just be monetary. She is encouraging those who can’t give money to consider volunteering. Click here for more information.
