This weekend, Central Ohio Primary Care is hosting its first mass vax clinic.

“The dose for (kids) 5 to 11 is a third of the dose,” said pediatrician Donna Sterling. “Certainly, if a child has any risk factors, such as diabetes or lung issues, they’re another level of risk for COVID. This is an extra protection we can offer kids.”

Twelve hundred children will get their shots Saturday. Central Ohio Primary Care will host clinics the next two weekends, administering a total of 5,000 vaccines.

“I think just explaining the importance of vaccines in general can help a lot of kids,” said Sterling.

Melissa Madden’s three children got their Pfizer vaccines at the clinic.

“I have a six-year-old, a nine-year-old and an 11-year-old,” said Madden.

She said they were excited to get vaccinated.

“It's just peace of mind especially going into the holidays being able to visit grandparents and family and not having to worry as much,” said Madden.

The COPC clinics are fully booked.

The health system is also offering vaccines at their offices.
