What You Need To Know

  • The Lakewood Historical Society held a "Small Wonders Miniatures Show" at the Nicholson House

  • The show featured 60 miniatures

  • The show ran for four weekends in September and October

As the second vice president of the Lakewood Historical Society, he helped curate a "Small Wonders Miniatures Show."

"We have over 60 miniatures. Some of them are dollhouses, some of them are room boxes and an assortment of other things. Some of them are more modern and some date back as far as the 1880s," said Sent.

Sent's inspiration for the show came from the dollhouse he built for his daughter followed by a castle he made for his son.

"It's called 'Beacon House' and I added this little wing to it. And I had so much fun researching the victorian time period, what kind of wall coverings would they have, what kind of furniture would they have. I bought some things. I made some things," said Sent.

Both the dollhouse and castle Sent made are part of the exhibit.

Also featured are historical room boxes and homes spanning over several decades. Most of the pieces were donated by people in the community while some are on loan from museums like the Western Reserve Historical Society.

"It's something we thought was fun. We started talking to people in the community. All kinds of people that are friends of the Lakewood Historical Society said 'yes I have something' or said 'no. I don't have something but I know someone who does' and people started getting dollhouses out of their basements, out of their attics, out of their neighbors' attics," said Sent.

The show wraps up on Oct. 3.
