WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.— Ohio continued on toward its mission of a Little League World Series title Thursday after defeating California, 4-2.

The West Side team from Hamilton is one win away from making the LLWS championship.

The win not only secured a spot in the Tom Seaver bracket final, but also avenged a 9-0 loss to California earlier in the tournament on Aug. 22.

After California took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, Ohio produced the offense the rest of the way.

Chance Retherford put Ohio on the scoreboard, scoring from third base on a wild pitch in the fourth inning.

Retherford continued producing runs in the fifth inning with a two-run triple hit down the right field line to put Ohio in the lead. He later scored on a single to left field by Noah Davidson to extend the lead.

California threatened in the bottom of the sixth inning with runners on first and third, but a fly out to deep center field clinch the win for Ohio.

Ohio advances to the Tom Seaver Final versus the South Dakota team from Sioux Falls on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

If victorious, Ohio would advance to the Little League World Series finals Sunday.

Ohio will not face South Dakota pitcher Gavin Weir, who pitched a no-hitter Wednesday versus California and has only allowed one hit throughout the summer regional and LLWS tournaments, due to his pitch count reached earlier in the week — having pitched more than 66 on Wednesday.

On the other side of the bracket, Michigan is set to play Hawaii in the Hank Aaron final. Hawaii defeated Michigan 2-0 earlier in the tournament.
