COLUMBUS, Ohio — Fair Districts Ohio, which is made up of Common Cause Ohio, the League of Women Voters of Ohio and the A. Philip Randolph Institute, is hosting a competition for the redistricting processes.

Fair Districts Ohio is giving $1,000 to the winner for the best Ohio House and Ohio Senate district maps and $750 for the best congressional district map.

"Sometimes when we talk about gerrymandering, it's this vague kind of concept. But when you look at a map, you're like, 'Oh ok. I can see the gerrymandering,’” said Common Cause Ohio Executive Director Catherine Turcer. “But it's also important to be able to see the vision of what is actually better. And so that's why we have had a series of these redistricting competitions.”

Legislative maps must be submitted by Sept. 6 and the congressional map by Sept. 15.

The official Ohio Redistricting Commission will receive the winning legislative map and the state legislature will get the top congressional map.
