MEDINA, Ohio — Medina native Matt Amodio has continued his hot streak on the game show “Jeopardy” on Monday by winning his 14th episode in a row, jumping into fourth in the show’s all-time highest winnings in regular season play, according to the show’s Hall of Fame.

Amodio has won $440,600 on “Jeopardy.” He now trails Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer and Jason Zuffranieri in winnings during regular season play.

Missing on a massive Final Jeopardy wager, he would have been just $24,000 of climbing into third place on the list. Monday’s Final Jeopardy was a “triple stumper,” as none of the three contestants correctly answered.

Amodio was able to make a massive $34,000 bet after earning $44,400 in the first two rounds, well ahead of the second-place contestant who had $5,000 going into Final Jeopardy.

Collecting his 14th victory, he passed Matt Jackson for sixth for most games won in regular season play. He’ll need to win five more episodes to catch Zuffranieri and David Madden to enter into a three-way tie for fourth.

Amodio often uses “what’s” in order to satisfy the game show’s long-held rule that all answers must be addressed in the form of a question. The game show addressed fans concerned that Amodio’s responses were violating the game’s rules.

“The rules state, ‘...all contestant responses to an answer must be phrased in the form of a question.’ It's that simple,” the show said. “Jeopardy! doesn't require that the response is grammatically correct. Further, the three-letter name of a British Invasion rock band can be a correct response all by itself ("The Who?"), and even ‘Is it...?’ has been accepted. So, Matt Amodio's no-frills approach is unique but well with guidelines.”

During his run, Amodio described himself as a “history nerd.” He is currently a Ph.D. student at Yale University.
