COLUMBUS, Ohio — While there are no rides or games again this year at the Ohio State Fair, there are plenty of animals.
Boots and Buckle 4-H Club Member Addie Foor said she’s often too busy to even ride the rides.
"My day starts at 5 [a.m.],” said Foor.
She’s been showing pigs since she was nine years old. Her and her family start raising the pigs in March and train them all summer leading up to the fair, but this year, none of her pigs were ready to bring.
“Some of them don’t turn out the way you wish and they don’t get shown,” she said.
Her brother, Cody, will be showing two pigs this year. He’s been showing at the Ohio State Fair for two years.
“I usually get nervous before I go into the ring,” said Cody Foor.
His favorite animal to work with is cattle, but he said the pigs are entertaining.
“Their personalities are cool,” he said. “They’re just fun animals to be around.”
Cody will be showing his pigs on Friday, Aug. 6.
