CLEVELAND — WIth Cleveland State University requiring those living on campus to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the university announced Tuesday that it plans to operate at full capacity this fall.

The university said that classes will be in person with no capacity restrictions, residence halls will also be at full capacity and dining halls will be fully operational. In addition, many campus events, including Magnus Fest, Homecoming and athletic events, will be held this year.

Cleveland State students will return to campus in August, which is before an Oct. 12 state law kicks in that prohibits public institutions, like Cleveland State, from requiring people to have a vaccine that is not fully authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Presently, three COVID-19 vaccines have emergency authorization but none are fully authorized.

"Over the last three semesters, our students, faculty and staff have worked hard to keep our community safe. As a result, Cleveland State University achieved one of lowest infection rates among urban universities in the country," Cleveland State wrote in a statement earlier this month.
