CLEVELAND — There are historical tours in major cities all over the country, but none quite like the newest attraction in Cleveland.
There are so many fun facts and history jammed into the state of Ohio. For instance, did you know Ohio is known as the "Mother of Modern Presidents" because seven Ohio natives served in the White House? Also, an eighth, William Henry Harrison, was living in Ohio when he was elected.
Then there are the major cities. Cincinnati is the birth place of Play-Doh, and 48% of Americans live within 600 miles of Columbus.
Then there is Cleveland, where one couple is giving a 90-minute history lesson with a spin.
“The unique part is you have a comedian as the host so it becomes a rolling comedy show,” said co-owner of the Funny Bus Cleveland, Dean Schnurr.
Dean and Sarah Schnurr started their funny bus project before the pandemic hit.
“We had nothing to do during Covid but plan the funny bus,” said Sarah.
This bus tour of Cleveland is hosted by a local comedian who gives you equal parts laughs and lessons throughout your ride.
“There's so much in Cleveland you don't think about,” said Sarah.
“It never ceases to amaze me,” said Dean. “How many people from Cleveland gets off the bus and say I actually learned something about Cleveland and I'm a lifelong resident.”
On top of being a rolling comedy tour and learning experience, riders can also bring their own beer and wine. However, the main attraction is the laughs.
“People want to have fun and people love comedy here and we want to help supply it to them,” said Dean.
The couple have now been in business a few months and tours are going great. They hope to add routes at some point to give an even bigger experience of the city they love.
“That's kind of the nice part about Cleveland,” said Dean “There's just so much here.”
A perfect place for a bus that specializes in history and in laughs. The funny bus is for adults only. If you want to reserve a seat on the Funny Bus click here.
